How many of us have regretted not continuing with our orthodontic treatment when we were younger and are now left with imperfections when we smile. If the thought of wearing metal brackets and wires fixed to your teeth is putting you off having your teeth straightened, then the answer is the Clearstep system. This involves wearing clear braces or positioning trays made from a thin, near invisible plastic. There is a series of positioning trays which gently guide your teeth from their present position to the desired position. Clearstep is suitable for anyone over the age of 14 who is otherwise orally fit.
The beauty of this system is that it is removable. To avoid embarrassment and discomfort simply remove the appliance before attending social events, business meetings or eating a meal.
To go one step further towards that perfect smile, whilst the positioners are being worn whitening gel can be used inside them to remove stains and discolouration.
The braces need to be worn for a minimum of 20 hours a day.
Maintaining healthy gums whilst wearing the braces is easy, simply remove, brush, floss, rinse and reinsert.
Treatment starts with accurate impressions of the upper and lower teeth. From these a series of 8 positioners are made each being worn for about 10-14 days. Once the 8th positioner is reached the dentist will check the overall progress of the treatment and will decide if any further positioners are required.
Mr Marek Skalka has been trained in London to use this system and would be happy to see you for an assessment.
