Composite Bonding

Composite Bonding

Composite bonding is a non invasive cosmetic dental technique which has been used for many years. It can transform a smile in just one visit. The procedure takes great skill and artistry on the part of the dentist. There is no or minimal tooth preparation required for this technique.

It is suitable for:

  • Repairing broken and chipped teeth, particularly for teeth at the front of the mouth.
  • Closing gaps between front teeth (diastemas)
  • Reshaping teeth
  • Smile makeovers – composite veneers (porcelain veneers are the better option long-term, but as an initial instant change composite veneers can be used)

The tooth is first etched to roughen the surface microscopically. A primer is then painted onto this surface and set using a hand held dental curing light. A colour matched mouldable composite material is then built up in layers as required to re-shape the tooth. The rough surface is finally trimmed and polished.
