What better time to think about your oral health than during National Smile month. The British Dental Health Foundation has revealed that there could be a link between oral health and overall body health.
This aim of this year's campaign is to present the growing body of evidence suggesting that people with gum disease are more at risk of heart disease, heart attacks, strokes, diabetes and, in the case of pregnant women, giving birth to underweight babies. The message is that by keeping gum disease under control you can prevent it from developing into more serious general health conditions.
